Licensing Authority Requirements

All taxi and private hire vehicle drivers must meet medical fitness standards set by their local Licensing Authority.

We assess drivers in accordance with DVLA Group 2 medical standards, ensuring compliance for:

New applications

License renewals

Annual follow-up assessments

(where required)

What happens at the appointment

The taxi medical consists of the doctor going through the medical form and your last 5-years of medical records. The medical records can be obtained from your NHS GP surgery by asking for the last 5-year summary.

Alternatively they may provide you with their online access thus the records can be viewed.

Another option would be to use the NHS app if you have full access (preferred option)
